About Vampire Feast

By the Vampire Feast team at Orivexsystems · Updated

Vampire Feast is a free real-time multiplayer .io game built and operated by Orivexsystems, an independent studio in Sweden. It runs in a browser with no download and no account, it is funded by advertising and one optional purchase, and every guide on this site is generated from the game's own balance file so it cannot drift out of date.

What the game is

You play a vampire in a shared arena. You drink blood to gain mass, and mass is simultaneously your size, your score and your health — the single number the whole game turns on. Cross a threshold and you evolve, through ten forms from the Blood Mite to the Dread Progenitor, each one replacing your signature power outright.

Above the ladder sits the endgame. At 2,150 mass the arena calls a trial, crowns a Crimson King, and then turns the entire server against whoever won — including an AI Holy Order that marches in waves and a player-controlled Archangel sent to end the reign. It is a game about becoming the biggest problem in the room and then finding out what that costs.

Who makes it

Vampire Feast is developed and operated by Orivexsystems, Sweden. It is an independent project, not a publisher-funded one, and it is built and maintained by the same people who run the servers and answer the support mail. There is no outsourced content team and no third party writing for this site.

The game is also part of a wider fiction. Indithar is the world Vampire Feast belongs to, and Mystvale is a companion property in the same setting.

How the guides on this site are written

This is the part worth being explicit about, because it is unusual and it is the reason the numbers here can be trusted.

Every figure quoted across the guides — every mass threshold, cooldown, radius, damage coefficient, wave timer and unit stat — is read directly out of the game's live balance file at build time. The evolution table on the evolutions page is not typed by hand; it is generated from the same constants the running server uses. When we change the balance of the game, the guides change with it in the same release. They cannot silently go stale, and they cannot quietly disagree with what you experience in an arena.

The prose around those numbers is written by the developers, from playing the game and from reading the telemetry and simulations we use to tune it. Where a page gives tactical advice — hunt downward, keep your pounce for escaping, stop farming the Cathedral — that advice comes from measured outcomes, not from guesswork. Nothing on this site is machine-generated filler, and we do not publish specifics we have not verified.

Pages carry the date they were last updated. If the game changes and a guide has not caught up, that is a bug and we would like to hear about it — see contact.

How it is funded

The game is free, and we would rather say plainly how it pays for itself than leave you guessing:

Nothing sold affects gameplay. There is no paid power, no paid mass, no paid stats. A player who has spent nothing and a player who has bought everything meet on identical terms in an arena. That is a design constraint we hold ourselves to, not a marketing line — the whole game is a competition over one number, and selling that number would end it.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never receive or store card details.

How it is built

Vampire Feast is a browser game in the literal sense: HTML Canvas for rendering and WebSockets for the network, with no plugin, no launcher and no install step. The simulation is server-authoritative and runs at a fixed tick, with client-side interpolation between updates — which is why a stable connection matters more than a fast one, and why the client cannot be edited into an advantage.

Desktop and mobile players share the same arenas. The mobile build is not a cut-down version; it is the same game with thumb controls.

Frequently asked questions

Who made Vampire Feast?

Vampire Feast is developed and operated by Orivexsystems, an independent studio in Sweden. It is built and maintained by the same people who run the servers and answer support mail.

Is Vampire Feast pay to win?

No. The only things sold are an optional one-time ad removal and cosmetic skins and auras. Nothing available for money affects gameplay, stats or mass in any way.

How does Vampire Feast make money?

Advertising funds the servers, alongside one optional one-time purchase that removes ads and cosmetic-only skins. Payments are processed by Stripe, and no card details are stored by the studio.

Are the guides on this site accurate?

Every number in them — mass thresholds, cooldowns, radii, damage values and unit stats — is generated directly from the game's live balance file when the site is built, so the guides update in the same release as the game itself.
