Vampire Feast tips and strategy
By the Vampire Feast team at Orivexsystems · Updated
Most Vampire Feast runs end for the same three reasons: farming the Cathedral too long, fighting upward instead of downward, and holding Shadow Pounce for an attack when it should have been an escape. Fix those and your average run length roughly doubles. Here are twelve habits that separate a 400-mass death from a crowned reign.

Early game (0–285 mass)
- Farm the edges, not the middle. Essence density is similar everywhere; the difference is how many players can reach you. The map is 9,000 units square — use it.
- Reach Ghoul before you fight anything. At 75 mass the Rend's bleed lets you win exchanges you would otherwise lose.
- Never chase. Speed falls as mass rises, so anything smaller than you is faster than you. A chase you cannot win is a chase into someone else's ambush.
- Learn the day/night clock. Feed hard at night, play carefully by day. The Cathedral pushes when the sun is up.
Mid game (285–1060 mass)
- Stop farming NPCs. The Cathedral taper is real: grind the same holy soldiers and your payout drops to a fifth. Blood taken from players is never taxed — that is the game telling you where to go.
- Hunt the wounded, not the small. A 900-mass vampire at low health is worth far more than three 200-mass ones, and the 25% player-kill bonus plus six seconds of frenzy compounds into the next fight.
- Backstab or don't bother. Shadow Pounce from behind is 1.8x. From the front it is a commitment with no payoff. Circle first.
- Bank your pounce. The i-frames mean pouncing through an attacker beats running from one. If your only escape is on cooldown, you are already dead.
- Watch your bounty. Every kill puts 70 mass on your head, up to 1,600. Cross the Most Wanted line and bots will actively hunt you. After a spree, go quiet and reposition.
Late game (1060+ mass)
- Time the Blood Rush. The crown goes to whoever gains the most mass in 30 seconds — not the biggest. Save a fat feeding lane for the moment the trial is called.
- Fight the Order at your Cathedral, not theirs. Waves reinforce; pull them into open ground and kill the monks first — 9 health per second undoes an entire duel.
- Party up. A coven can feed you mass mid-fight by holding E, and the crown is far easier to hold with a bodyguard than alone. Invite a friend from the menu before you enter.
The three mistakes that end most runs
- Greed at the Cathedral. It looks like free mass. It is a taper and an ambush point.
- Fighting upward with a full bar. If you can win a fight but will end it at 20% health, someone else takes the kill and your mass.
- Sitting still at high mass. Big vampires are slow, visible and worth a fortune. Keep moving, keep the map edge on one side, and never let two rivals get on opposite sides of you.

Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest way to grow in Vampire Feast?
Killing other players. A player kill pays a 25% bonus on their mass plus six seconds of frenzy, and unlike NPC blood it is never taxed by the diminishing-returns system that throttles Cathedral farming.
Why do I keep dying at medium size in Vampire Feast?
Usually because speed falls as mass rises, so you can no longer escape smaller hunters. Keep Shadow Pounce available as an escape rather than spending it on attacks, stay near the map edge, and avoid open ground when your health is low.
